Sublime Salon Experience
A free, public event
Friday, March 22, 2019
6:30 - 8:30PM
Amos Eno Collective artists Sam Jones, Candace Jensen & Philip Swan would like to invite curious souls to a conversation salon, to be hosted within Jones’ Perpetual Becoming at Amos Eno Gallery, 56 Bogart, Brooklyn. The discussion will be held on Friday, March 22nd from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

In moments of awe, bliss and even terror, one can experience a simultaneous expansion of awareness and collapsing of consciousness that confounds the individual identity; meaninglessness coupled with its opposite, complete and overwhelming saturation of meaning. 'Ego annihilation' or perhaps, the sublime. The objects and recordings that make up Perpetual Becoming result in totems of such experiences, avatars of visual, audio and tactile moments-when-time-stands-still, experiential as they are intangible. The organizing artists seek to engage a public audience to acknowledge and celebrate these moments in discussion.
Conversation will focus on the mystical and the sublime as they are experienced today, as well as on the way these experiences are correlated to creative process. In this spirit, the artists provide these following prompts for interested parties to consider in advance of the conversation:
-How are we perpetually becoming, and unbecoming, ourselves?
-How does creative practice alter our experience of time?
-In which moments of your life have you brushed up against these overwhelming sensations?

Please join us for this seance with our higher selves to plumb the depths of our conscious experience. Some refreshments will be provided.'
