Redwood Ripples examines what it means not only to represent climate change but also to have it encroach upon the creative process and compel new working methods. In this new body of paintings, torrents of watery pigment pool and disperse across the canvas, wrinkling and warping it. Texture, stain, and rust echo the movement of mud and detritus across the shifting forest floor that seeped into my studio during intense winter rains. Surrender, in these emotionally charged maelstroms, is not giving up, but rather giving in to the new aesthetics of a changing planet.
