José-Ricardo Presman:
All's Legitimate
Under the Sun
On view Oct. 5 – 29, 2023
Amos Eno Gallery, a non-profit artist collective in Bushwick, Brooklyn, is pleased to present All's Legitimate Under the Sun, the 24th solo exhibit by long-time gallery member José-Ricardo Presman. An opening reception will take place at the gallery's location at 56 Bogart St., Brooklyn, NY, on Friday, October 6th, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The artist's work consists of black and white paper silhouettes of physical poses, exercises and stretches that parallel the occulted chronology of the universe, in essence re-creating a mini-universe using the physical human body as intermediary. The exhibition is punctuated by a silhouette of the Sanskrit AUM symbol seen from a new perspective.
“Research of the complexity of the universe, including results of higher forms of consciousness have been an interest of mine during my entire adult life,” Presman said. “The silhouettes provide stark contrast and simplicity to a complex subject matter where a viewer’s interpretations may flow freely. A consequence of the vastness involved is that I use different styles and mediums depending on my subject matter. Each solo show looks different from any previous show.”
A related video presentation on the correlation between artistic creativity and the 4th dimension will be featured on social media.
Concurrently, Remains by Norman Rosenblum will be on view in The Project Space. Presman specifically chose the photographer, who it turns out was his first college roommate, to exhibit in tandem. “Rosenblum’s photographic images add a prerequisite tranquility and stillness necessary as a starting point to a higher consciousness,” Presman said.
