Royal Tar Collective

 

The Royal Tar is an artist collective comprised of two artists – Heather Lyon and Anya Antonovych – who have chosen to live and work in Blue Hill, a small town on the coast of Maine. Life in Maine forces a close examination of the power of nature in the face of the urban paradigm of progress and dominion over nature; this schism is ripe territory in which the artists exploit the tension between the visceral and the intellectual. The artists have been exhibiting together for several years, and maintain an ongoing critical dialogue about each other’s work
