Membership Information:
We are one of the oldest, continually operating artist collectives in New York City. Our members are nationally and internationally recognized for their outstanding work, having received awards and grants from a variety of prestigious foundations. Our professional exhibition space is in a highly visible location in the heart of the DUMBO gallery district; our shows have been reviewed by the New Yorker, Art in America, the New York Times, and other major media outlets.
We are currently taking applications for full membership in our gallery. Membership is not exclusive; you are free to show your work any time at other venues as opportunities arise for you. As a member of Amos Eno Gallery, you not only get exposure for your work in New York City, you get a support network of like-minded artists and the assistance of a professional director for your solo show. You will receive a solo show about every two years and be able to participate in group shows as well.
The Gallery was founded in 1974 and had several highly visible spaces in SoHo and Chelsea before moving to its current location in the heart of DUMBO. Amos Eno maintains a highly visible profile. A professional director works with each artist to insure that his or her work is professionally presented and publicized. All potential members are subject to a rigorous review process, and are elected by a special committee. Artists from New York, the greater United States, South America, Europe, and Asia have benefited from the gallery's mandate to offer complete artistic freedom in the production and presentation of their art as well as a network, which may lead to other exhibition opportunities. All members receive ongoing representation.
Membership
The regular membership dues are currently $225-275 per month.* However, for a limited time we are offering membership to new members for $175 a month for the first year.
There are no media or stylistic restrictions. A member is given his/her first solo exhibition one to two years after becoming a member, depending on the gallery exhibition calendar. Future solo exhibitions will occur approximately every two years, and members may participate in group shows as well. Members participate in the activities of the gallery by attending meetings (6 times per year) and contributing time toward various activities or projects.
Shared Membership
For the first time, we are allowing two or three artists to share a membership. Instead of a solo exhibition, they would exhibit together in a two- or three-person show. With this type of membership, the artists also share the cost of the monthly dues.
*Dues cover the costs of running the gallery, which includes rent, utilities, salary, publicity, etc. Dues are subject to periodic revisions to be voted on by the membership.
